FHE SOCCER ALUMNI UPDATE - 11/1/2011

 

Zac Tolsma (’08), Senior at Cornerstone University (NAIA) 

After a slow 2-5-0 start, the Golden Eagles have won 9 of their last 10 games and captured the WHAC Conference Regular Season Championship and Honorable Mention in the NAIA National Rankings.  Zac has been a mainstay in the Cornerstone lineup and will play his next game on Saturday, November 9 in the WHAC Tournament Semis.

Heidi DeVries (’08), Senior at Cornerstone University (NAIA)

Heidi’s Cornerstone team sits at 6-7-4 overall on the season.  The Golden Eagles play in the WHAC Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday, Nov 2.  Heids has 1 goal on the season from her outside back position.

Zach Myers (’09) and Ben Thomas (’10), Saginaw Valley State University (NCAA Division II)

Zach and Ben are members of the Nationally-Ranked #14 team in the nation.  Their Cardinals team has won the GLIAC Conference Championship and takes on Ben’s former Tiffin team in the GLIAC Semis on Thursday, Nov 3.  Zach has started all 18 games and has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists from his Center Back spot.  Ben has 1 start to his credit and has recorded 1 assist in his 14 appearances.

Caitlin McCarthy (’09), Junior at Kalamazoo College (NCAA Division III)

The Hornets team is 13-6-1 overall and finished 3rd in the MIAA Regular Season.  Ceejay has 11 appearances and 1 goal, 1 assist on the season.  She will face former FHE teammate Ann Kennedy in the MIAA Semis on Thursday, Nov 3.

Kyle Haverkate (’10), Sophomore at Aquinas College (NAIA)

The Aquinas Saints sit at 13-3-2 on the season.  Kyle has been starting at Center Back all year and has 1 assist to his credit.  The Saints play in the WHAC Quarters on Saturday, Nov 5.

Ann Kennedy (’10), Sophomore at Alma College (NCAA Division III)

Ann’s Scots team is 16-3-1 overall and finished 2nd in the MIAA Regular Season.  Ann has been her team’s starter all year at Center Back and has 1 goal and 1 assist on the season.  She will face off with former FHE teammate Caitlin McCarthy against Kalamazoo in the MIAA Semis on Thursday, Nov 3.

Lawrence Murray (’10), Sophomore at Calvin College (NCAA Division III)

The Calvin Knights are currently ranked #16 in the National Rankings and have compiled a record of 14-4-1 to go with a First Place finish in the MIAA Regular Season.  Lawrence has started every game for his team and has 1 assist from his Center Back position.  Lawrence will play former FHE teammate Graham Wallace (Alma) on Wednesday, Nov 2 in the MIAA tournament.

Fred Smyser (’10), Sophomore at Olivet College (NCAA Division III)

Freddy’s Comets are 12-6-1 on the season and finished the MIAA Regular Season in 4th Place.  A Team Captain as a Sophomore, Fred has started every game for Olivet and has recorded 4 goals and 3 assists on the season.  The Comets face off with Adrian College on Wednesday, Nov 2.

Michelle Marcus (’10), Sophomore at Grand Valley State University (NCAA Division II)   

“Meesh” is the backup goalkeeper for the Lakers, who have begun their National Title defense with a 16-0-2 record and a #3 National Ranking in NCAA II.  The GLIAC Conference Regular Season Champions, the Lakers begin conference tournament play this week.

Graham Wallace (’10), Sophomore at Alma College (NCAA Division III)

The Scots stand at 5-11-2 on the season.  Graham has started 13 games, recorded 1,156 minutes, 84 saves, and 4 shutouts.  The Scots play Lawrence Murray and his Calvin College Knights in the MIAA tournament on Wednesday, Nov 2.

Kaitlin Teichman (’10), Sophomore at Saint Mary’s College (NCAA Division III)

Teich's Belles put together a 10-10-0 record.  She was been a mainstay in the St Mary’s lineup and has recorded a goal and two assists.  The team showed marked improvement going from 3-16-0 overall in 2010.

Jon DeVries (’11) and Brandon Underwood (’11), Freshmen at Hope College (NCAA Division III)

The Flying Dutchmen are 12-4-3 overall, good for 2nd Place in the MIAA Conference.  Brandon has appeared in 18 matches and has scored 4 goals  Jon has appeared in 7 games.  The team is ranked #5 in its region and will play Albion College on Wednesday, November 2.

Bailey Henderson (’11) and current FHE JV Girls Coach Cat Howard are teammates at Davenport University (NAIA). 

Bailey & Cat's Davenport team is 10-7-1.  Cat has played over 1,500 minutes in the role of starting goalkeeper, compiling a 1.36 goals against average, 113 saves, and 3 shutouts.  Bailey has been redshirted for her Freshman year.

Mitchal Rosendall (’11) , Freshman at Western Michigan University (NCAA Division I)

Mitch's Broncos are 5-11-2.  Mitch has appeared in 3 games on the season.  The Broncos play Bowling Green at home on Saturday, Nov. 5.
