Winter sports season is very nearly here and bowling practice will begin on Monday Nov. 18th. I would like to have a pre-season meeting with the parents and especially new parents to the sport. If you can attend I would like to host a virtual meeting next Monday Nov. 11th at 7pm to go over season expectations and answer questions you have.I will discuss practice and competition schedules, roster size, equipment needs, season goals, and transportation to the bowling alley. Please contact Coach Pilmore for the link to the Google Meet - copilmore@gmail.comFor those that cannot make it I will record the call and share it out to everyone after. Hawks Volleyball wins District Championship

Congratulations to the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks on winning the 2024 MHSAA District Championship.The Hawks earned the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, reciving a first round bye, then defeated Comstock Park in the Semifinals, and Ionia in the Championship, 3-1.Eastern heads to the regional tournament, which will be held at Forest Hills Eastern on Tuesday, Nov. 12th at 7pm, with the championship on Thursday, Nov. 14th at 6pm.

Girls Golf takes 13th at MHSAA State Finals

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.- Forest Hills Eastern has a young girls golf team team this fall, but has had a miraculous end to the 2024 season. Coming off an MHSAA regional title, the Hawks qualified for the state finals, taking 13th overall in the state.Leading the way for the Hawks was Stella Bernhardt who shot 176 over two days, and finishing 27th overall in the field.Lilah Zaskowski finished in 33rd overall with a 183. Rounding out the lineup for the Hawks was Megan Purdy with 209, Lynnlee White with 224, and Maddie Mason with 204!

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich.- The Forest Hills Eastern boys tennis team finished 7th place overall out of 21 team represented at the 2024 MHSAA State Championships, held at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood over the weekend. The 1-doubles team of J. Konwinski/W. Overbeek made the elite 8 after earning a first round bye, and defeating Goodrich. They'd fall to regional rival Petoskey. At 2-doubles, N. Talla and E. Mast would advance to the final 4, after a first round bye, then defeating Stevensville Lakeshore, and Grand Rapids South Christian.3-doubles, Kozal and Heymoss defeated OK White foe East Grand Rapids, before falling to top seeded Ann Arbor Greenhills.Then at 4-doubles H. Overbeek and R. Worden also received a first round bye, and took down Haslett to go to the elite 8. They'd fall to 2-seed Country Day. At the singles flights, E. Chiodini, H. Elms, J. Eastern Boys Golf Finish 6th in MHSAA Division 2

The Hawks Boys Golf team competed at the MHSAA State Finals for Division 2 at Forest Akers West. The two day event saw the Hawks move up the rankings in day 2 to finish 6th overall in the state. The Hawks were lead by Freshman Jack Klimek who shot a 150 (76 & 74), Junior James Seymour 155 (80 & 75), Senior Devin Kozal 160 (80 & 80), Sophomore Hunter Morris 164 (83 & 81). Hawks Girls Tennis Finishes 5th at MHSAA Finals

The Hawks Girls Tennis team competed in the MHSAA State Finals for Division 3 in Kalamazoo. The Hawks finished 5th overall with 21 team points behind Country Day, Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook, Chelsea and Bloomfield Hills Marian. The Hawks advanced all four singles players into the semifinals on day 2. The Hawks had two players finish state runners up in the #1 singles - Freshman Lilah Zaskowski and #3 singles - Senior Muskan Rekhani.    MHSAA D3 Finals Results

We began the day strong with our Women’s Varsity 8+. We finished second behind the defending state championship Forest Hills Northern boat by only half a length. This is significant because of how young our V8+ was. 1 Freshman, 4 Sophomores and 4 Seniors. Over half the boat are underclassmen racing against an almost entirely senior crew.The women’s Varsity 4x finished 2nd overall.  The women’s Varsity 2x is a crew that I think has some potential. Both Annie and Ruth rowed a clean race, but with no practice it was clear they might have been a bit uncomfortable. As the race continued, you could see them both get a bit more comfortable, and they started to push the rate up and they began walking back up on the Lowell crew who finished second.  Our lightweight 2x of Natalie and Paige had a great race from start to finish. The next highlight is our men’s junior 2x. They had a great race down the course and won our first race of the day. Unfortunately, they were beaten on time by the winning boat in the second flight. This is a crew that we feel strongly about, and I know they are excited for next week to try and get revenge for being beaten on time. Our Men’s Lightweight 4+ consists of two novice boys who had their first race of their careers this weekend. While the race wasn’t perfect, we all saw some good things and we are excited to keep working on this crew and get them rowing a bit cleaner and moving faster.  The men’s quad is I think one of my favorite races from the regatta. They had a rough start catching two crabs within the first 5 strokes of the race. This put them at a massive disadvantage. The FHNE Dance team braved the weather to compete at Aquinas College on Sunday for their annual invitational.  They finished 1st in Small Varsity Jazz category, 1st in Small Varsity Hip Hop, and 2nd place in Small Varsity Pom. Their 1st place finish in their jazz performance resulted in a finish as Overall Jazz Champions which included schools from both the large and small school varsity divisions. Individual Soloist Category Performances: Isabelle Berkeley 5th Place Isla Van Buren 6th Place Carlie Mais 8th Place   The Bird Dogs will compete tomorrow at Hudsonville.

The boys cross country team competed in the OK Gold Cross Country Championships at Riverside Park on Tuesday Oct. 17th. Four Hawks finished in the top ten. The Hawks were led by Henry Dixon (15:43.57) with a first place finish. Liam Hinman (15:54.69) 3rd, Brendan Hoving (15:58.71) 5th, Cooper Jacobsen (16:12.85) 5th, Tate Miller (16:48.79) 13th, Luke Ueland (16:56.98) 15th, and Steven Zawacki (17:02.36) 18th.  The hawks had seven athletes received OK Gold All Conference Honors! The FHE Crew team spent the weekend at the Michigan State Rowing Championship Regatta. Twenty five  high school teams from Michigan competed on Kent Lake in Kensington Metropark. The Girls Tennis team competed in Portland yesterday for the MHSAA Regionals in division 3. The Lady Hawks showed up with solid tennis play to earn 20 points and overall 2nd Place Finish.  They now will advance to the MHSAA State Finals that are being held at University of Michigan on June 2nd & 3rd. 3 Doubles Patel & Salyer made it to the finals and earned the win over South Christian HS was a 2 point swing for the Hawks. Reese Bower was the 3 Singles champion in victory over Grand Rapids Christian.

Last Friday under the lights at South Christian HS the Lady Hawks Varsity Tennis team secured the 2023 OK Gold Conference Trophy. The Lady Hawks made it to their flight championship matches except our most valuable player Raka Majumdar who brought home 3rd place subbing in at 4 singles.  Friday was a total team effort, and they showed great Hawk Pride! Thursday the Lady Hawks head off to Portland for Regionals hoping to qualify for States.  Good Luck! Muskan Rekhani-1 Singles Champion Katie Worden and Izzy Feenstra  -2 Double Champions

On Saturday, the Lady Hawks hosted the FHE Quad facing their toughest competition of the season: highly ranked and talented tennis programs from Cranbrook, Chelsea and Grand Rapids Christian.  Teams played at two sites Gainey Athletic Facility hosted 1 & 2 Singles and Double, while FHE hosted 3 & 4 Singles and Doubles.  Highlight of the event Reese Bower (JR.) went undefeated “Gold Champion -3 Singles.”

Girls Varsity Tennis Takes 2nd at Holland Christian Quad On Saturday, the Lady Hawks Varsity Tennis battled in the Holland Christian Quad with a 2nd Place finish behind Holland Christian beating Parma and Whitehall. Highlights of the day included Reese Bower(Jr.) at #3 Singles winning her bracket. #1 Doubles Shambahabi Gautam (Sr) and Bella Chiodini (Jr) making it to the finals with a tough battle taking 2nd place. 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (9-11)  #2 Singles Natalie Mouw (Sr) also making it to the finals bring home 2nd place.   Next up for the Lady Hawks is an away match at Catholic Central CAT Facility on Wednesday come support our Hawks.  They are on the road Friday against Dewitt/Haslett.

Jacob Pallo didn't allow a single run as Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity defeated Wayland 11-0 on Tuesday. Pallo allowed just one hit. Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning.  The big inning was thanks to singles by Leo Hearn and Sam Rasmussen  and a double by Ryan Przybysz. One bright spot for Wayland was a single by C Carnavale in the second inning. Pallo earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity. Pallo lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four and walking zero. B Calkins took the loss for Wayland. The bulldog surrendered ten runs on nine hits over four and a third innings, striking out two and walking one. Nate Durham was brilliant on the pitcher's mound on Tuesday, as Durham threw a no-hitter to lead Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity past Wayland 11-0. Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity tallied five runs in the fifth inning.  Caleb Kuiper, Jacob Pallo, Ryan Przybysz, Brian Messing, and Evan Parks each had RBIs in the big inning. Durham led the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity to victory on the mound. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five. C Koopman took the loss for Wayland. The bulldog went four and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on eight hits and striking out four. Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity tallied ten hits in the game.  Pallo, Przybysz, and Messing all had multiple hits for Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity.  Przybysz and Pallo each managed three hits to lead Forest Hills Eastern Hawks Varsity.

Forest Hills Eastern Hawks traveled to Traverse City on Friday, and came back with some hardware; the One Day Winner trophy will be displayed proudly. Ben Abare lead our Hawks with the low round on the team (80). It was a tight course that got our attention from the get go...and yet, these fine young men battled thru.

The Loop Classic, was classic! Besides the beauty of this design, there were many beauty shots from our Hawks. Super day to be a player. Alex shot 75 (tied for sixth out of 90+ players), and Ben put an 80 (22nd) on the scorecard, and I thought Jacob (85), Devin (87), and Joey (90) did really well also. Golf is all about dealing with the elements...and there was plenty of those at The Loop! We shot finished 10th our of 20 teams (327, winning score was 289).
