In a hard-fought, emotional game, the FHE Soccer team pulled out a 2-1 conference tournament semi-final win at Caledonia on Tuesday night.

The Hawks began the game with relentless pressure on the Caledonia defense, but failed to capitalize, and found themselves in a 1-0 deficit in the 18th minute following a Scots corner kick.

However, FHE refused to back down and continued the assault in the attacking third.  In the 39th minute, just before halftime, Matt DeVries played a ball through to Jeremy Ireland who provided a fantastic individual effort to beat the Cal goalkeeper and equalize.

The 2nd Half was end-to-end and very evenly played.  Each team created several scoring opportunities but were stymied by the opposing defense.

Finally, with just 3:50 left in the game, Matt DeVries again found a hole in the Cal defense.  He played a ball into space to Kosti Moni who calmly struck a dipping volley from outside the 18 past goalkeeper Joe Fifer.

With the win, FHE moves to 12-3-2 on the season and advances to the OK Gold Conference Final on Wednesday at South Christian. 

In the JV match, Caledonia defeated the Hawks 8-0.
