The Varsity Soccer team traveled to South Christian on Thursday night for a critical OK Gold Conference match, but were thwarted in a 3-2 loss to the Sailors.

In the 4th minute, freshman Kosti Moni put the Hawks on the board first  when he won the ball in transition and pinged the ball from 18 that swung away from the keeper and into the net.

South Christian equalized in the 21st minute after a moment of disorganization in the FHE defense.

But, the Hawks answered back in the 31st minute when Nick VanderMyde served a beautiful ball from the corner to the back post, where Brendan McCoy was waiting to head the ball past the keeper.

Despite several quality FHE chances in the second half, the Hawks were kept off the scoresheet while the Sailors finished chances in the 51st and 72nd minutes to complete the 3-2 comeback.

FHE falls to 5-2-1 and travels to Portage Central on Saturday for the next match.

In the JV game, the Hawks fell by a score of 1-0.  Hawks Carl Herdegen and goalkeeper Paul Jorgensen had fantastic performances in the loss.
