Varsity Soccer Wins At Cedar Springs

Game Date
Sep 1, 2011
Score
HAWKS: 3
CEDAR SPRINGS: 2

The Hawks travelled to Cedar Springs for a match between former OK Blue rivals.

FHE possessed the ball and had all of the opportunities early in the match, but failed to score.  Cedar was determined to limit space for FHE and it resulted in a 0-0 halftime score.

Cedar was quick out of the gate in the 2nd Half, scoring on a 1v1 with goalkeeper Nick Hopkins in the 43rd minute.

Junior Ryan Scott equalized in the 60th minute after Jesse Aronoff played a brilliant diagonal ball over the top of the Cedar defense.

Just 6 minutes later, it was Cedar Springs who capitalized on a penalty kick after an attacker was tripped in the penalty area.

Desperate for a goal, FHE went into attack mode and Freshman Kosti Moni scored with 4 minutes left in the game on a free kick from Ryan Scott.

Ryan Scott continued to make his mark on the game, as he scored the game winner 23 seconds later, giving FHE the 3-2 win.

The Hawks move to 2-1-1 on the season and play their next match at Wayland next Thursday to open OK Gold Conference play.

In the JV game, Ryan Austin scored his first of the season to give the Hawks a 1-0 win.  Sophomore goalkeeper Paul Jorgensen made some outstanding saves and recorded the shutout.  The JV Hawks' record stands at 1-3.
