The FHE Soccer Team hosted East Kentwood, one of the top teams in Michigan, on 8/23.

The Hawks played well, but struggled to create much in the way of attacks in the first half.  The FHE defense held firm until the 28^th minute when a 2v2 counter-attack resulted in a point-blank EK finish for a 1-0 lead.

The second half brought a more open attacking style for the Hawks, resulting in 9 second-half shots, opposed to just 1 shot in the first half.  However, it also resulted in more space for the talented EK attackers.

EK would finish in the 43^rd, 56^th, and 67^th minutes to record the 4-0 victory. 

Hawks goalkeeper Nick Hopkins played an outstanding game and set a school record for saves in a game (11), besting Ross Peterson’s (Class of 2008) record of 10.

FHE falls to 1-1-0 on the young season and will travel to East Grand Rapids for a non-conference match on 8/25.

The JV Hawks lost 1-9 in the matinee game.  Jake Stevens scored his second goal of the season for the Hawks.
