The Hawks opened their OK Gold Conference schedule with a 5-0 win over visiting Hastings.

Both teams played to a stalemate for much of the first half.  Senior Brandon Underwood put the Hawks on the scoreboard with a finish from close range in the 36th minute on an assist from Alex Harrison.

Just 1:22 later, Underwood struck again, again from point blank range, on an assist from Jon DeVries, giving FHE a 2-0 halftime lead.

After the break, the Hawks got out of the gate quickly.  Just 39 seconds into the second half, Alex Harrison played a beautiful through ball to Underwood, who carried the ball into open space but was dispossessed at the 18.  The ball landed on the foot of Mitchal Rosendall, who hit the back of the net with a screaming toe-ball.

Rosendall buried his second goal of the game in the 47th minute after a rebound from a Matt DeVries corner kick, putting the Hawks up 4-0.

Sophomore Nate Loree rounded out the scoring in the 68th minute, executing a fantastic run through the midfield, keeping the ball despite numerous tackles from Saxons defenders.  Working his way through traffic, he walked in on the keeper and made a cool finish from inside the 6.

The Hawks' defense again played a strong game to register their third-straight shutout.  All 22 Hawks players made their mark on the game as the each of the reserves entered the match and kept the team at a high level of play.

The Hawks play district rival Forest Hills Northern on Saturday.  It is a home game with a kickoff at 3pm.
