Forest Hills Northern swim team places sixth at state swimming finals

?FOREST HILLS Northern FINISHES SIXTH AT STATE FINALS: The Forest Hills Northern boys swim team finished sixth at the Division 1 state finals last Saturday. The team finished with 116.5 points and had eight qualifiers participate.

"It was a good meet for the team, it was a team effort," said Forest Hills Northern coach Dennis Neat.

Forest Hills took fourth place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.86 and it placed fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:12.55). Senior Brad Klanderman finished tied for sixth in the 100 freestyle (47.91).

Coach Neat mentioned senior Brandon Muma who finished ninth in the 100 butterfly and tenth in the 100 backstroke. In addition, junior Paul Kersjes finished 14th in the 500 freestyle and junior Griff Billups was 11th in the 100 breaststroke.

"It sad to see the seniors go, they helped the program grow," said Neat. "Next season we will have to find new leadership."

Forest Hills finished undefeated in the conference were 8-2 overall.
