The FHE Soccer Team opened the OK Gold Conference Tournament with a 3-0 win over the visiting Catholic Central Cougars.
After a scoreless first half, Jessie Fatum beat three Cougars and finished inside the 18 to put the Hawks on the scoreboard in the 50th minute.
Jen Winkel scored just 1:24 later after Emily Smithson lofted a free kick into the box that was deflected by Paige Lackey and landed on Winkel's foot for the finish.
Paige Lackey found the net on a beautiful goal in the 72nd minute. Senior Morgan Goble beat a player on the wing and served a lofted ball to the penalty spot. Lackey had beaten her defender to the spot with an intelligent run and finished to the upper corner on a full volley.
Julia Schroeter earned her second shutout as the Hawks goalkeeper, collecting 5 saves.
The Hawks push their record to 8-6-1 and will travel to play #1 seed Caledonia at Duncan Lake Middle School on Monday in the 2nd Round of the OK Gold Tournament.
In the matinee game, the JV Hawks played a nice game which ended in a 0-0 tie, highlighted by some highlight reel saves by Hawk goalkeeper Rachel Wozniak.
