It took overtime for the Hawks to claim a 4-1 win versus a scrappy Hastings team.
After a long 0-0 deadlock, Junior Jaclyn Goble put the Hawks on the scoreboard in the 61st minute after chipping the Hastings goalkeeper.
However, the Saxons equalized in the 78th minute to send the game into overtime.
The Hawks seemed to gain emotion and momentum after giving up the late goal, and controlled play in the overtimes.
Hawk defender Megan Hollingsworth dribbled into the attacking third and struck a shot from distance that found the net in the 89th minute.
Sophomore Mikaela McGonigal scored just two minutes later after winning a lose ball in the Saxons 6-yard box and calmly finishing.
Senior Paige Lackey put the game on ice in the 94th minute, as she scored from point-blank range.
Kelsey Jantz got the win as goalkeeper for the Hawks, a result well-earned after several brilliant saves from close range.
The Hawks finish the OK Gold regular season in 4th Place and will host Catholic Central on Thursday, May 17 in the first round of the OK Gold Conference Tournament. First up is Senior Night, to be played at FHE on Monday, May 14 vs Zeeland West in a non-conference match.
In the matinee game, the Hawks JV team lost by a score of 5-0.
