The Hawks travelled to Byron Center for a non-conference match on Friday, April 20 and claimed a 1-0 win.
FHE put pressure on the Bulldog defense early and often, but BC's goalkeeper managed to turn away shot after shot, keeping the score 0-0 throughout most of the contest.
Junior Jenna Winkel finally came through with a goal with just 8:04 remaining in the game. Teammate Emily Smithson struck a free kick to Winkel's foot at the top of the penalty area, and after a quick turn, Winkel struck a flighted shot that managed to chip the goalkeeper.
The Hawks move to 3-4-0 on the season and will host Ottawa Hills in an OK Gold match on Monday.
In the early game, the FHE JV team fell by a score of 3-0.
