The Hawks travelled to Middleville to take on Thornapple Kellogg in an OK Gold match on Wednesday night.

Things got off to a slow start in the game as the Hawks controlled much of the possession but struggled to get a clear shot through a crowded penalty area.  The TK Trojans stymied attack after attack until Senior Layne Vandenberg swerved in a corner kick in the 25th minute.

The Hawks carried the one-goal lead into halftime and beyond, missing several scoring opportunities.  Finally in the 74th minute, Kristi Myers carried the ball through midfield and played a brilliant give-and-go combination with Jessie Fatum, freeing her up for a shot near the penalty spot.  Myers made a beautiful finish to tally her first career goal and put the Hawks up 2-0.

Senior Margo Dixon played a fantastic game in the back and goalkeeper Erin Pupel recorded her fourth shutout of the season, as the Hawks improve to 5-5-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the OK Gold.  The next game is Thursday, May 5 as the Hawks travel to Ottawa Hills for a 5pm kickoff.

In the early game, the JV Hawks fell to Middleville TK by a score of 3-0.  Goalkeepers Julia Schroeter and Hannah Gawel made some beautiful saves and the team played hard in the defeat.
