The Hawks hosted OK Gold rival South Christian on Monday night.

The Sailors, ranked #9 in the state's Division 3, struck first on a 1v1 chance with the Hawks' goalkeeper in the 35th minute.

After the halftime break the Hawks played hard and fast, looking to equalize.  Senior Layne Vandenberg scored on a free kick from the top of the 18 that caromed off the crossbar and into the net in the 54th minute.

Both teams exchanged several scoring opportunities before South Christian's Morgan Torres headed in their only corner kick of the game, coming in the 67th minute.

FHE pushed forward, pouring numbers into the attacking third of the field.  After several quality chances, the Hawks gave up a goal on a 2v2 counter-attack in the 75th minute, ending the game at 3-1.

The Hawks fall to 4-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the OK Gold.  The team travels to Middleville TK for an OK Gold match on Wednesday, kickoff is at 6:45pm.

In the matinee, the JV Hawks played a fantastic game, ending in a 0-0 draw.  Goalkeepers Julia Schroeter and Hannah Gawel combined for the shutout.
