Game Recap

FHE pulled off a 5-3 comeback win over Wayland in an OK Gold match on Tuesday night.

Wayland got on the scoreboard just 2:58 into the game, but senior Jonathan Courts hit a banger from 30 yards out to tie the score at 1-1 at the 15-minute mark.

Consecutive goals by Wayland in the 25th and 46th minute put the Hawks in a 3-1 hole with 35 minutes left in the match.

One minute later, FHE earned two penalty kicks in a 23-second span, which were converted by Nate Stevens and Aidan Jacks to bring the score level at 3-3.

Junior Spencer Dziuba scored the game-winner for FHE when Jacks took the ball to the endline and slid a beautiful ball across the 6-yard line, where Dziuba finished brilliantly.

Nate Stevens scored an insurance goal with under 10 minutes remaining to secure the win.

The Hawks’ backline of Clay Edwards, Ben Centner, Zach Robinson, and Ben Wozniak played a strong game.

FHE travels to Middleville TK on Thursday night for an OK Gold match. JV kicks off at 5pm with Varsity to follow.
